Ancient Age

Since 1946 this bourbon is among a few brands that have quite the same reputation for low cost and reliability. For a long time this bourbon was the entry-level whiskey and big bulk seller of the George T. Stagg Distillery, now known as Buffalo Trace. With the same mashbill as Elmer T Lee, Blanton’s, Hancock’s Reserve and Rock Hill Farms it is the most affordable one of the bunch. Not the same end result, but a great no frills drinker.

Chris’s Review
4.3

Smell:
A Fruity aroma in the fig category.

Taste:
Corn and caramel sweetness with a small amount of spice.

Finish: Hot 4
Short finish leaving a thin buttery warm evidence that tingles your lips.

Notes:
Do not disregard this “bottom shelf” bourbon. There are other versions you should check out if you like this one. Ancient Age 90, Ancient Ancient Age (not available everywhere). Flat profile but pleasing. Sip or mix.
