J.T.S. Brown

Bottled in Bond. This brand was named after John Thompson Street Brown Jr., who opened a wholesale liquor business that later became the Brown-Forman corporation. In 1855 the brand was originally produced by J.T.S. Brown and Sons. In 1996 Heaven Hill had a fire that destroyed their distilling plant.

After the fire, the Bown-Forman corporation and some others, temporarily made available space for Heaven Hill to keep producing products while being rebuilt. Heaven Hill later opened a distillery called the Bernheim distillery in Louisville (very close to Brown-Forman’s distillery), where distilling has been conducted since. In the mean time this relationship and some other forces let Heaven Hill purchase J.T. Brown.

Chris’s Review
4.8

Smell:
Nutty with a side of mint

Taste:
Nuts all the way, not oily but smooth mouth feel.

Finish: Hot 4
Quick to your tough. Lingering light dry leather

Notes:
A bottom shelfer that is not bad as a sipper. Strong nutty flavor and is a good drinker for the price. Like Jon mentioned, we would of passed over if it wasn’t for a suggestion from a KY liquor store cashier.

Jon’s Review
5.5

Smell:
Light mint and banana

Taste:
Nutty front, very light for 100 proof, smooth

Finish:
Leather mild linger- dry

Notes:
Reminds me of Lusty Claw but at a fraction of the price. One of the most inexpensive bourbons we have reviewed (around 10$). Suggested by a clerk in Kentucky, she was on it!
