In 1984 Elmer T, when he was the master distiller at Buffalo Trace, he released this brand in honor of Colonel Albert B Blanton after his passing. All barrels selected are taken from center racks of the only metal-clad rickhouse (warehouse H) at Buffalo Trace. This goes back to when Colonel Blanton would have bottles filled from his favorite aging location, for use at parties he would throw, never for sale. Ancient Age

Since 1946 this bourbon is among a few brands that have quite the same reputation for low cost and reliability. For a long time this bourbon was the entry-level whiskey and big bulk seller of the George T. Stagg Distillery, now known as Buffalo Trace. With the same mashbill as Elmer T Lee, Blanton’s, Hancock’s Reserve and Rock Hill Farms it is the most affordable one of the bunch. Not the same end result, but a great no frills drinker.
